I would accept it at an off-repast time. If you take information technology at noon, people will expect tiffin. Simply, if you take it at 11 or 2, they volition have already eaten! And, I woould also put something like "Join us for cake and ice cream to celebrate ______'due south altogether" on the invitation.
We've done a lot of cake and water ice cream parties with maybe a few appetizers (veggies, chiips north dip, etc.) and drinks and they are e'er a lot of fun!
Take fun!!!

It depends what fourth dimension of day y'all're having it. Since the kids will all be trivial, it's probably a good idea to have small finger food snacks bachelor such as: goldfish, baby carrots, apple tree slices, raisins, etc. so y'all don't accept kiddos hungry/cranky and existence a hurting at the political party. Those are too all snacks that almost families would eat earlier they go bad anyway and should require very little prep from you lot. Costco and Trader Joe's both sell pre-sliced apples. Costwise, I would think you should be able to get a couple kinds of snack for less than $20.

It think what yous have in heed is fine. Since you will have the pinata I dont recollect it is necessary to have goody bags. I suggest having the party at a non meal time, early on to mid afternoon is always expert.
I used to have a few games for the kids with little cheap prizes, and cake and ice cream. The only time I porvided nutrient is when it was at the pizza articulation.

Almost importantly, I call back, if you dont want to serve food (which is perfectly fine) plan it accordingly. Dont program the political party at 12pm and non expect to feed your invitee dejeuner. I similar to plan my kids party'south at 1pm...simply after lunch, earlier naps! :)
Candy numberless/pinata are a party favor, to me anyway! I e'er stress over this aforementioned topic! I just through my son'south 2nd birthday. I brought downward and bought the darn party favor kit...then my husband asks me AFTER all the kids go out, "hey what are these bags in here for?" Arrgg, such a waste. Anyway, Cake and water ice cream is just fine...I usually but a bowl of political party mix on the table for the kids to munch, nosotros got to walmart and buy the brute crackers (huge bag for 1.98), 1 large generic brand raisins, and 1 large bag of generic make cheeto's...we had tons left over and information technology price me less than $7.00 for the whole thing...oh and 1 big jug of fruit agglomeration for 2.00, I recollect...
As for the adults. I might be the only ane, only I dont usually do anything for them...its about the kids...and its only a couple hours.

Yous are not fifty-fifty close to ''''crazy'''' --- so here's my proposition--- but be really clear with your invitations that this is going to be ''fun and simple''' --- when you talk to parents --- explain that their kid volition be offered block, water ice cream and perchance some fruit- ( with any drink y'all are planning) -- and will be bringing abode a pocket-size bag of candy--unless they swallow information technology at the political party-- . AND --- be happy in the knowledge that you are doing what works for your family unit- There's Naught crazy about sharing joy in ways that do Non break your budget betwixt now and Christmas---.

I always have cake & ice foam parties with a veggie tray and perhaps some goldfish. Past the time you practice decorations, party bags, etc you run out of money! Plus I do my parties between lunch & dinner and for younger kids 2.v hours is plenty.
Do any you desire! It's your child'due south party so don't let others decide for you :)
Have a great party

I honestly think it is non a bad/crazy thing at all...I would suggest however to make sure that the parties are non during Lunch/Dinner times. have it early 10:00 so its done before dejeuner or have an early afternoon starting at i:00 party to avoid hungry kids.
My thoughts on parties is my kids hardly always eat when nosotros are at a birthday party anyhow...I think information technology is pretty similar for most kids! Accept fun! Our two are very close together also (2 months) and it is no easy task and very hard on the wallet!

Yeah! Definitely keep it simple. They will recall mostly what they see in pictures, not what there was to eat (so take some good pictures).

For my daughters birthday party, nosotros said on the invite, Bring together united states of america for cake and ice cream in Commemoration of "T" turning ii. We had her party at 1pm and served cupcakes, dixie cup water ice cream and juice boxes. It was just fine. No one said annihilation nearly non having additional food.

My son's twelfth party was last week and we had cake, watermelon and drinks. (We were at a park and it was over lxxx degrees and then water ice foam was out.) Nosotros did a pinata with pocket-size toys, stickers and candy. ($$shop is slap-up for this) I handed out bags and that was their gift bag. You could theme information technology by using brown lunch sacks and putting Dora stickers on them. I think in these economic times less is certainly ok - and none of the kids complained as they were having fun playing.
Good luck and prayers for your military family.

I don't think yous're basics AT ALL!! That'due south usually the route I've gone the final couple of years. My son will be 4 this year. I have had his party in the afternoon, later on lunch time, so people could just consume luncheon on their own, and then come up over. It also helps me go him a nap before they become here. (that helps keeps things fun for everybody, a rested child is a much happier kid effectually here!! :) )
You don't "have to" exercise anything that doesn't work for y'all. Don't experience badly about it if you end upwardly at another party and they've done something dissimilar than you lot. Y'all don't have to compare what you did. (we all do it, though, don't we?
When I have needed help, I have even asked someone else in my family to bring over the veggie tray. They don't listen. I retrieve one year I threw some appetizer dish into the crock pot, but most of the time it's only been cake, really. Besides, my son is by and large interested in that anyway. We don't really practise sweets regularly around here, and then the cake is the biggest treat of all. As long equally that happens, it's a very special 24-hour interval. :) Well, you know, in addition to the attending, and presents!!
That's another thing, don't put yourself so far into party prep and everything that you can't have fun and spend time with your child at the political party. Why be worrying all almost the food when you could be enjoying your kid?? Get more pictures, more hugs, and see more smiles!!!

I agree with the other Moms, absolutely cipher incorrect with cake and ice cream but...just brand it clear on the invitation and so parents are non caught by surprise ('serving block & water ice cream'). We were going to do the same for our one year quondam's birthday but decided to add pizza prior to the event because nosotros had a long political party with out of town guests staying in our home (we needed to feed them anyways ;o)).

Hi Thousand.,
I just wanted to say good for you lot for keeping information technology unproblematic! I piece of work in a kindergarten class and I have seen how over the top the parties tin can exist. It'due south crazy! When my daughter turned i, nosotros had cake (that I made from scratch myself) and some snacks and beverages for the guests. We invited family members (which but totals five as my side of the family lives in other states) and a few close friends (who we consider family unit members!) We all just enjoyed the lord's day and watched my daughter play with her cousins. Anybody loved information technology! I similar the saucepan idea for the candy from the pinata. That way it's something the kids tin apply again. I call back Michael's too has buckets for depression prices and maybe some decorating materials. I promise you guys have a smashing time!!!!! My thoughts are with you and your family. Delight know we are all here to support y'all while your husband is in Iraq.

Yay for the pinata! That's what my Princess wants for her political party too! I'm trying to effigy out how to make it like the Dora "big pinata" where every one pulls to make the fun stuff come out. I think I may accept little stuffed animals for all the guests, the aforementioned character, like a puppy. One for everyone, not processed or food.
I wouldn't do nuts, such a iffy thing with allergies, we've got'em. Information technology's better without.
Our theme is POPPING...like popping balloons, bubbles, popcorn...etc. For treats, watermelon balls, Pirates haul cheese popcorn, cupcakes (maybe mini ones) and super small scoops of pre-scooped vanilla ice cream(fabricated with a smaller scooper), and a cup of milk (maybe in tossable sippy cups that they can accept home). I volition be serving the treats in a foil 6-loving cup muffin tin. You know the kind you find in the bakery aisle at the grocery shop. I call back every thing volition fit (we will be eating out side in the back k) I will prep dish all the nutrient up & they don't have to have seconds, just what is at that place. It's just a snack.
There are lots of ideas on many parenting/family websites.
Well-nigh of all, accept fun and simple. Your little one won't recollect what snack they ate, but the pinata and the fun! :)

Hi Kirsten,
that is simply fine. I just did my little daughter'due south birthday and the four year olds inappreciably ate anything. I had the party from three-5, perfect time for a snack of cake and ice cream (and a few veggies). Then they went home and ate dinner. I recall sometimes we all just become carried abroad with planning the party. I call up they enjoy the themed parties at a trivial older historic period. The girls simply played together without a big program.

Make sure it is non during repast times, and to be honest I would not schedule the party for more than 1-2 hours if cake and ice cream is the whole event. Who's on your guest list makes a difference too, if at that place are alot of toddlers, you may desire to exist conscious of afternoon parties interfering with nap times. How many people on the guest list matters likewise. Is it reasonable for everyone to make the trip for 1-ii hours?
So a pinata, cake and water ice foam, & presents can be washed in two hours if you are well organized. Good luck!

You're non nuts. I never even got a party always when I was growing up. My mom wasn't nuts either. She couldn't afford even a unproblematic party. She just made my favorite repast and some desert like pie or whatever that I liked and gave me presents. I survived simply fine!
If yous plan the political party for a between-meal time, then people shouldn't miss the food as much. Make information technology fun with lots of games and no one will discover the missing meal. :)

Ice foam and cake is great. I would skip buying the piñata if y'all want to salve cost and make your own. I checked out piñatas terminal night when shopping for my daughters party and say that at toys r us they toll xx!!! If yous have fourth dimension they are easy to make. If yous want to practise political party favors for really inexpensive go to the dollar tree and you tin can get bunches for a few dollars.

I am happy you are having parties for your children. I call up that serving cake and ice cream is plenty. That is all I am doing for my girl's birthday next week. I just made sure that the party was not scheduled around a repast time. My daughter's party is in the afternoon from 1 to iii, people would not be expecting lunch or dinner and then. I plan on having some snack crackers or some grapes for the kids, simply not a meal. I accept also establish coloring pages to be good and inexpensive political party favors. Yous said your girl wants a dora party. You could find a dora coloring volume and just give each child a couple of pages to take home as a political party favor. Maybe even adhere a note that says thanks for coming to my political party.
Hope y'all accept a fun political party!

You are on the right track. I fell for the "have to accept a large party" concluding yr for my twins 1yr old party. So much piece of work and you don't get to enjoy the party with that many people and they won't call up it anyhow. Concluding calendar month for their 2yr old political party, nosotros did block, pizza and few dollar store bubbles and just family unit and one set of twins family unit who we are close to. It was relaxing and we all enjoyed it.
Besides, with your husband gone, practise what makes it easy for you.

Birthdays are suppose to exist fun and that includes yous besides. If all you want to do is cake, ice cream and a pinata, that will even so be an enjoyable retentivity for your daughter and more relaxed for you. As our children go older they volition accept their own opinions of what their b-day shouldx be...then have it easy now considering someday that super political party will be on your door footstep and you lot might exist more inclined to plan something la3ger considering other years were more mellow. Nosotros took the cake & ice cream route with our four year old this year and everything was awesome and I was able to socialize more with the other parents and my son had a great time. Get for information technology and good luck

I think there's aught incorrect with just serving cake and water ice cream. Just make the party time correct later on lunch. And the processed bags is enough to take home. Some altogether parties are but over the acme nowadays. It takes away from the purpose of having the party in the offset identify. Good luck.

I think just water ice foam and cake is merely fine. I would simply plan the political party after lunch time. That mode the kids volition have already eaten lunch before they come and won't be hungry. You likewise said yous didn't desire to do party favors, in my opinon people spend way to much money on little toys that really do not go played with and are a waste of money at those ages. My son is six now and I did the whole "big" party and accept realize that less is merely notice for kids! ;)

Every bit long every bit you are not over a meal fourth dimension and keep the party at 1-2 hours cake/ice cream is enough. Also, candy bags from a pinata is a party favor. You can turn it into an activity by letting each child decorate a small (keep it modest and so information technology seems full) bag. A few years ago, I bought pocket-sized buckets at the Target dollar bin for each kid to collect the processed and then go along the bucket for play.

No, you are NOT basics, specially with the i year old. Your son isn't going to remember his birthday anyway, it'southward more than almost the the guests anyway, and then why non go on it simple?
For the 3 year one-time, keeping it simple is totally ok. Some Dora plates and cups, cake and water ice cream with the pinata and candy are totally appropriate. At that age, it doesn't accept much to brand them happy, really.
With your married man in Republic of iraq, the important matter to do is take lots of pictures so he can share in the experience also.
